Or imagine a 'Nova' support gem, that locked AoE gems to be cast at the character position only, offering a damage boost in return. Rolling flames for example could be made into an support gem with the tags Projectile & AoE allowing it to support other skills like Arctic Breath or Ball Lightning, too (way more interesting then being locked to just Fireball). I 'd really wish that GGG would revisit the support gem situation. The thing that makes PoE stand out is customization and the freedom to combine things. Also I very much hate the concept of skill-specific stuff. Trying to fix lackluster or uninteresting skills through jewels was not the right way to go. In my opinion the best thing GGG could do would be to remove threshold jewels from the game and start reworking old skills. The rest I agree on, they're total shit and need reworks. The best use of this I've seen in a build is melee summoners (CoMK SRS or Dominating Blow variants). The Vigil - I guess usable in some kind of support build? One toss into a pack and the return path, all projectiles hitting multiple enemies will pretty much wipe out the entire pack due to doubledipping. I've used this jewel in poison ST builds before, it's not as bad as you make it sound, it's actually quite strong. It also synergizes well with ST poison builds, as the poison stacks will hit multiple times with increased projectile damage (increasing the DDing of the DoT + initial hit as well). Due to "projectile damage" scaling all the damage in a Spectral Throw attack, you can have a massive damage increase if you know your max throw range, being able to keep and hold projectiles there. Steel Spirit - Lol, did whoever designed this even play PoE ?Īctually it's one of the more powerful threshold jewels when used properly. With three of these, you can make MoM not cost any mana at all, there's a ton of strength in that. Spirit Guards - Nice jewel, should be INT based Still, that is overall a shitty design of a jewel. To be fair, it has one viable use, that being used in a Cameria's Maul MFer build. If they raised the amount of mages made per jewel, it would be a much more viable jewel.
